I was just playing around with my hair and noticed the back of my hair can be stretched to my ARM pit! Exciting right? my goal however is for my twist to touch ny armpit without ne pulling/ stretching. I wonder how long that will take? Lol

Why dnt you love me/ college curlies inspired do

i seen a post of Jamilas blog at http://collegecurlies.blogspot.com/ and just had to try the stye with the scarf. I had bought a couple scarfs from the thrift store the other day, so timing was perfect. anywho heres the look.

oh yeah, i am on a hunt for a good photo editing program. I just want to be able to make collages and add text to photos. iphoto doesnt allow this and aperture is just too complicated. anyways, i used Picnik to make this collage. I like it so far and will contiue to use it until i find something better. I just wonder if picnik owns my pictures once i upload them?????

Merry Christmas and Length Check

I have been a little frustrated over the past few days with my hair.  I cant tell if its growing! I wish I would have recorded my length when i first started my no heat styles. I can say that my hair feels and looks better than a few months ago.  My plan is to measure and record my length and really crack down on a routine. I want to see progress and so far I really havent seen any :( It could of course just be my eyes, so I plan on posting some comparison pics.

I decided to revisit a twistout, this style is from my medium sized twist that were about 1.5 or 2 weeks old. I had a 1950s theme party yesterday and I was gonna do a regular pin-up but didnt have time to play around. Jarred thought my hair looked fine in a twistout, so I trusted his judgement and wore a twistout..... to a public event, lol. I didnt get any crazy remarks.

When I got home from the party I played arund with my hair and tried Nikkimae2003's "roll under" style. Her style comes out gorgeous, she used a week old twist out so her's looked more like an afro. heres a link to her tutorial

I haven't made a hair post in a little bit because I have been so infatuated with my keyboard, iMovie,and finding new software for my macbook. Not to mention trying to get ready for Christmas lol. Anyways these twist are about a week or so old. I didn't like them when I first put them in because I did them kinda big and thy just didn't have the rift curl. I kept them in anyway, every other night I mist them in he shower and rub either shea butter it shea moisture curl smoothoe through and toss my bonnet on. I don't do much with saying, I usually just pin the sides back and keep it moving.


All for now, I am watching Charlie brown Christmas with the kiddies :)

Uggs and Laptop bag!

A couple days ago we went the mall because i decided it was time i give ugg boots a try. SInce uggs became popular i had been avoiding jumping on the band wagon. But then I started thinking....... I spend about $100 at least on boots each year and while they are comfortable and cute they are never warm. So i bought uggs, for the warmth and hopefully comfort :) I couldn't get the traditional pair because I am sick f seeing them instead I bought the retro cargo pair (i think thats what its called) it has a strap and side pocket lol with blue and purple stitching. I wore them yesterday and I wasnt all that impressed as far as comfort goes, it felt like i was walking on a hard board :( they were warm though, it was about 40degrees and my feet were hot! I guess i will be keeping my ugg boots, im sure i will grow to like them, right now I am not in love with them. i kinda think my legs are too skinny for them lol.




My other purchase was my marc jacobs laptop bag. I wasnt shopping for one, but we stopped in the apple store and it was just too cute and the only one left! I grabbed it up, and when i got home i went online to see if i could get a better deal. Wouldn't you know, i couldn't find it online. Jarred (hubby) said i wouldn't lol. anyways the reviews on it isnt great, about half the reviews said that the strap ripped off after only a few days :( i hope that wont happen to me. Maybe those reviewing had heavy laptops My laptop is less than 5 lbs

Back from Vacation!

and in the process of organizing my pictures and vidoe for upload. Mexico was amazing, we stayed at the Grand pallidium resort in the Royal suites! We went to Tulum and Xel-ha and hung out at our resort.

as far as hair, i wore twist from about 2 weeks ago and they held up great! I just got around to washing my hair tonight after 3 weeks of twist. I was scared to wash because i thought it would be a mess to detangle based on how long they were in and becaue i had gotten them wet. to my suprise it was a normal detangling session i had only a small child sized hand full of shed hair!

right now, my hair is a few briads to dry overnight and then i will twist tommorow. i am exhauseted and going to bed. i will upload my pics soon :)

Rivera Maya Awaits Us

Thats right, Jarred and I are going to mexico in the am. We will be there for 3 nights, minus the little ones. My hair has been twisted since 1.5 weeks  ago and its staying that way. I will probably retwist next week. I am only packing jojoba oil or olive oil, aloe vera gel, and suave conditioner. I still have so packing to do and stuf to get ready for the kids so its gonna be  a long night. toodles for now :)

JK's Bday party

will be this afternoon! I am so exhausted because I didnt get off work till 11pm last night. I got home and had to transfer pics to my computer from an external hard drive to put together slideshows and collages for my sons bday party. I didnt go to sleep until 2am smh lol. Anyways, kids are up at 7 so we are too . we have to head out and get party supplies and our christmas tree. This is gonna be a long day lol

We had a wonderful thanksgiving. My mom came to my house to help with dinner and my brothers came over to eat. After dinner, we went to my aunts house to hang out with my moms family. Blowout and Trim

I finally did a blow out a few days ago. I was watching innovativethinkin and blessedbyhem o youtube and was inspired to do two strand twist in blown-out hair. I didnt use a heat protectant because i didnt have one, but i properly conditioned. When I was all done with the blowout, my hair was a mess so i decided to trim it. This was my first time doing a full head trim. My hair instantly looked better. Next i put my two strand twist int. heres my hair post blow out and trim

Happy 1st Birthday JK

My son turned 1 year old today! Its hard to believe this time last year he was only hours old and toda hes walking, saying hi, doesnt drink a bottle, and just turing into a real kid! My how time flies! Ava and I baked him a cake (carrot) and decorated. He will have his party next weekend :)

in other news, i have been working hard to learn my new keyboard lol. I have spent hours on youtube watching tutorials and watching people play. I do ok, but I am inpatient and want to learn a whole song right away. lol So far i can play the intro to coldplay clocks, happy birthday, a few seconds of coldplay the scientist, and i just learned about 10 seconds of Drakes find your love. I think I am gonna stick with learning Drakes song because its easy and sounds great. I cant really play using both hands yet, but so far drakes song seems the easiest to try.

Or should I say "keyboardist" lol. Just a pic of me and my m-audio keyboard. I spent about a good 2.5 hrs watching tutorials on songs. So far I can play happy birthday and the intro to coldplay clocks. I can only play using one hand which is a total drag. But, Im gonna keep at it and one day I will be playing all kinds of songs lol. I can't decide if I want to be really disciplined and watch basic tutorials so I can learn the keys and all or if I just want to learn songs.... the best would probably be to watch the basics first because all the song tutorials I seen people speak in "piano language" and its totally foreign to me.

Well...... I guess I will "play it by ear" lol

I tried a roller set!

about time, i know lol. I have wanted to roller set my  hair for months not. I finally gave it a try last night. after co-washing and detangling, i set my hair with perm rods using Olive Oil line wrap and set  moouse. it took about an hour, i did medium sections and didnt really have a plan as far as parting goes. I just wanted to give it a try. it came out ok, but wasnt good enough to wear down so i put it into a puff with a bang. I loved it. I will however two strand twist my hair for the week tonight or tommorow. I am working nightshift this week :( anyways, here are the pics! the first 2 pics are right after i took the rollers out

I have been enjoying this style lately, even thought i have yet to wear it outside. I think it looks ok in pictures but for some reason looking in the mirror it looks like my hair isnt "done"........

This is an app i installed on my EVO months ago and hadnt used. I just randomly decided to try it out today and boy have i been missing out, This app allow you to create list of any type. it synchronizes on the web and then catorgorizes your list. i literally just installed it, so i cant say much about it but i am sure i will love it. I often when looking around online for recipes, shopping, hair stuff just bookmark things, this will be my replacement bookmark.

the lap chole that didnt make it out of the OR :(

 I usually don't post too much about my job and nursing... but i should more often.

yesterday there was a patient scheduled for an out patient procedure. this guy was going in for a lap chole (taking the gall bladder out) this is a very simple procedure. this guy was 60something but he did have a pretty risky history. He had a CABG (heart surgery) about 7 years ago and had multiple vascular surgeries.

This guy was supposed to go home, but when his surgery was over and he was extubated (breathing tube taken out) his heart rate dropped to almost nothing! CPR was started right away but only went on for about a half hour before they pronounced him.

I dont work in the OR, i am a recovery room nurse. I never met this patient or family, but heard about it because he was supposed to come to recovery and go home.

my heart goes out to his family. i cant imagine how they felt leaving the hospital without him and knowing that they would never see him again. this guy  had way more complicated risky surgeries before and this simple outpatient procedure was the one to take him out. I didnt find out why he coded and died, but our guess was a PE (blood clot in lung) or something.

I also felt bad for the care providers involved. even though im sure it wasn't anyones fault, we as humans and care providers cant help but feel that way. Codes rarely occur in the OR, so i know this was tough for all involved. the worst part of all, after this case was finished and he had been taken to the morgue, everyone had to move on to the next patient :(

Havent done much lately

with my hair that is. its still in the same twist i did last week. you can see the shrinkage if you remember my last twist post. i plan on leaving my hair like this until friday.

jarred and I finally booked our mexico trip. we are going 12/2-5. we are staying in the mexcan rivera. the hotelis the grand pallidium (or something like that). I will make a post on my packing and clothing plan. this will be my first international flight and since we arent flying southwest we will definitely be carrying on our luggage. this of course means i will have to carry on my hair supplies. i will probably just wear twist then i wont have to take much.

all for now, i have to start to get ready for work :(

I just bought 3 today in preparation for my fall decorating, i know im a little late. smh I will just put them in pots outside until it gets too cold, along with some scarecrows and pumpkins. We also have quite a few plants to move into the house as they arent doing to well outside anymore.

I am currently in a challenge over at curlynikki.com I'm supposed to keep my hair in 2strand twist m-f. Iove twist but sometimes get bored with them and sometimes I just want to try the "out styles". Yesterday I tried a braidout with KCCC but was to lazy to allow it to dry, I say under my conair dryer for about 30 minutes then tried air drying for an hour or so. I was to impatient and just started twisting with my hair about 70% dry. I didn't use any product since I had the kccc and knot today. I did small twist which came out pretty nice. When I was all done I spritz with water,leave in, and jojoba oil. My hair curled up nicely and I was a happy camper.

I plan on sticking with this challenge at least until December. I want to see some growth but more than that I want my hair to stay healthy and continue to just learn my hair. I'm not very good with "out styles" but I am with twist. I figure why try to fix something that isn't broke lol

this was even easier than my earlier post. shout out to herbesthair.blogspot.com for sharing how she watermarks. this was easy to do, the only thing i dont like is that i think you have to create a new watermark for each pic as i didnt see a save option for the text created (watermark) but its still cool :)

Adding watermarks to photos : Exporting From Picasa - Picasa Help

i have been trying to figure out a way to copyright my pics for about a week now. most of my research has shown that people use photoshop to do this. i did a google search today an found that picasa allows watermarking. it was pretty easy to do. the only thing that i dont like is that you cant change the font, color, size and i dont think you can reposition where they stamp the photo (lower right corner). someone can easily crop it out.

Its Our Anniversary!

We were married 2 years ago on this day at Cocoa Beach Fl. It was a very eventful day, lol . It rained of course, infact stormed right after our ceremony while we were taking pictures. my hair was a mess, but i didnt care. I had originally gotten in done the day before we left for florida. it was in a pressed updo style with spiral curls. what was i thinking. i walked around disney the day before the wedding in rollers lol. the night before the wedding, while giving Ava a bath, i accidently turned on the shower and my hair was done! I didnt panick, i just blow-dried it and then pressed it again and did my best at an updo. it was ok, but of course it got ruined during our wedding. lol good times. enjoy the slide show :)

I didnt realize that my natural styling started back a few years ago. I was looking through old pictures and found some styles i wore about 4-5 years ago when i first stopped perming my hair. I remember doing the styles and everyone thinking i was crazy. because i pretty much got laughed at and didnt have the resources i have today, i resorted to pressing my hair. Below are a few pictures of styles i tried during that time. I actually had two strand twist!, i also wore a half wig, and phony pony :)
